Hi, my name is
Adrienne

As the younger sister of a 4th generation SCD patient and mother to the 5th generation, Adrienne Shapiro has seen the difference that is made when a patient seeking care has a devoted caregiver who will stop at nothing to ensure their loved one is getting the best care possible. This includes seeking out the latest treatment options, finding specialists and creating a team that not only provides support within the hospital but outside of the hospital as well.

She recognizes the need to create a supportive community that can not only care for the patient but educate the medical professionals as well. Being that many SCD patients come from single parent, single child households. The need to have access to an educated and supportive advocate is more important now than ever. Especially, for adults who are receiving the brunt of the discriminatory and vilifying practices that the medical community chooses to use against them.

Our Mission

Our goals are to improve the lives of patients and caregivers who are dealing with this chronic illness. We plan to strengthen our connections to the medical community and honor those whose pioneering efforts have saved lives.
